In Pontebba you pass the bridge over the Pontebbana creek, border between Italy and Austria until 1919. Following the too little bike route signs you come out of Pontebba cycling on low traffic roads. Entering in the village of La Glesie-San Leopoldo you finally meet again the dedicated bicycle route built on the old Pontebbana railway.
The cycle track runs now in the "Valcanale" valley, a typical Alpine landscape. Near the village of Bagni di Lusnizza, renowned at the time of the Austro-Hungarian empire for its sulfur springs, a bridge takes us back to the left side of the valley. You keep on riding in a light and steady climb through woods, meadows and huts features by touching the pretty village of Santa Caterina. After passing two tunnels, we suggest you to leave the bike path to visit the picturesque alpine village of Malborghetto, which preserves many historic buildings, including the Venetian Palace where an important ethnographic museum is housed, and the Gothic parish church of Santa Maria are definitely recommended.
Back on the Ciclovia Alpe Adria Radweg official path, you cycle still a few kilometers uphill to reach the village of Ugovizza, where you can have a rest in the old railway station, renowated and transformed in a restaurant. Leaving from Ugovizza, we suggest to leave the cycle track and cycle to the picturesque village of Valbruna with its impressive view of the Val Saisera, which is closed by the majestic walls of Jof Fuart.
In a few kilometers the old Pontebbana trail takes you to the "Sella di Camporosso" pass. This is one of the lower pass of the Alps (816 m) as well as the watershed between the Adriatic Sea and the Black Sea. Passed the cyclists counter portal placed near the departure of the cable car to the Sanctuary Of Mount Lussari, you reach Camporosso and then you start a fast descend to Tarvisio. This town is the most important country in the valley and since many hosts a renowned market.
